Материалом может послужить любая натуральная кожа, от свиной до змеиной. При этом по-разному выделанная кожа от одного животного, будет в дальнейшем отличаться друг от друга в изделии.
Если рассматривать, какой толщины кожа для кошельков оптимальна, то чаще всего используют 2-2,5 мм для внешней стороны и 1,2-1,5 мм для внутренней отделки. Также в зависимости от выбранного материала, будет изменяться и мягкость изделия, и его прочность.
